Introduction & Objective
The northern part of the Giri river dividingSirmaur district into two parts is known as Giripar and the southern part is known as Giriar. In Giripar region, Rajgarh, Sangrah, Shillai, Kamrau, Tehsil Nohradhar, Haripurdhar, Ronhat sub-tehsil and Anj Bhoj area of Paonta tehsil comes under a total of 127 panchayats. The native inhabitants of here are Khosh, Bhant, Koli, Doom, Chanal, Daanti, Bajgi, Lohar, Miyan, Deva, Badoi, Natua, etc. All the sub-castes come under the community. Whose total population is about three lakhs. The people of Giripar are called Hatti because once in a year the people here used to take the sale items from their village, ginger, dry ginger, cumin, red chili etc. to the Haat for Chakrota, Kalsi, Churpur, Jagadhri, Nahan. And used to bring clothes, gur, salt, molasses, etc., of household necessities from the market. By walking together in a group, outsiders and their people started calling them by the name Hotti. And gradually the name Ye Hoti became a permanent identity for the people of Giripar region.
